Being Held Back

"You're a full year older than me, what were you, held back as a kid?"

"What do you think about repeating this grade over again?"

When kids are growing up, they are given certain expectations to live up to.  Whether it's from their parents, their teachers, their coaches, or society in general, kids are looked upon to fill in the gaps that the older generations did not fill.  When a child is held in school, it is an indicator that that particular student needs more learning to understand the material given to them, or they are struggling too much at their current level. But after reading a couple of articles about students and parents in the current society, I'm beginning to wonder at what point parents start looking at their kids as a business instead of an expanding mind.

In the New Jersey Star Ledger, following this years NBA Draft, there were some reports about NBA prospects who had been held back in 8th grade, but no necessarily for academic reasons.  The article pointed out that many middle school basketball players are now repeating the 8th grade so that they can play like a 9th grader at an 8th grade level, thus padding their basketball stats and getting a better chance at a scholarship from a better university than their struggling counterparts, who are playing at their correct level of competition.

In fact, kids are begging their parents to be held back.

Now, I had blogged about how the education system in this country has fallen by the wayside and isn't nearly as robust as it used to be.  But I did not expect to see this kind of thing come along in our society.  I understood that colleges had scouted players in middle school and even went as far as having players and students commit to their university before entering the 8th grade.  I didn't think it would get this far.

The process goes like this: a student athlete is held back sometime in middle school, usually by a recommendation from the teaching staff, but in this case, most likely recommended by the parents.  The student-athlete gets another chance at playing middle school ball even though his body is now a full year in development ahead of the rest of the now current 8th graders.

Nerlens Noel, now an NBA player who was held back in middle school.

It is like putting a high school freshman back into his eighth grade math class and then seeing him outperform most of the students because he's already done all this work before.  Doing something the second time around does tend to be easier.  With his advanced talent and development that he has received from playing a lower level of competition, he now has made himself a visible athletic force for all the scouts watching him play.  It's like a group of 14 year old boys playing basketball with a 15 year old, people will notice which one is the 15 year old by how he's dominating the younger students.

When a scout sees this player doing as well on the court, the scout may approach the parents about a scholarship at a top-tier university.  'He seems to be outperforming his classmates, he will be great in our program, please sign on the dotted line' is what a parent might hear from a scout if they ever were encountered by one.  This is every parents dream; their kid is wanted by a great school and has the potential to have a brighter future.

Here's the surprising part: after the student moves on after 8th grade and enters high school, he can re-declare his grade-level based upon his academics.  Many parents even have private classes for their held-back students just so they can catch up and move back into the grade they were held back from, leapfrogging an entire grade if need be.  A quick side note, I did this in college when I had to take Spanish classes to complete my major requirements, so I took a test and tested out of 2 Spanish classes, thus saving me some time.  Now fast-forward to the student-athletes senior year in high school, he may be right at the age where he needs to be, or he may even be a year older.  He now has a scholarship to a top-tier university for athletics, probably has a chip on his shoulder, and without a doubt, has a much brighter future than his counterparts that weren't held back during middle school.

Something about this whole system of keeping a child back for athletic purposes doesn't seem right.  Right away, it means that the parents aren't necessarily looking out for their sons well-being as far as intelligence goes.  When you first find out about someone being held back, you think that it is because they struggled along the way or didn't grasp some concept.  It instantly becomes an indicator of potential weakness, but not in this situation.

Should parents be holding more and more of their children back if they see athletic potential in their kids?  Why is it that there is no other field that this is commonly preferred practice?  When a parent holds back a kid for academic reasons, it's because he or she didn't understand it the first time around.  No one has ever publicly stated that they held their son or daughter back in middle school so that they could get an edge in science.  It's almost as if we've put too much of an emphasis on sports, because we've incorporated them into our education system.

Here's an open ended question: do you think we would create a smarter or more gifted society if we were to allow an entire year be repeated by students.  One of the side-effects would be that there would be a huge gap between enrollment in one grade than the next.

Now I first about this from the Jalen Rose Report podcast on the Grantland Network, which can be watched and listened to here.  I did some Googling about this subject and decided that this is definitely not a common practice among young men around my neck of the woods.  I wonder if there is anything like going on other sports like Hockey or Football.  It would certainly break the whole talk about education wide open.  It's certainly a talk that we need to have in a large public forum.

Fat ballplayers

"I'm not an athlete, lady, I'm a baseball player." - John Kruk

Those are the fine words of John Kruk, former Philadelphia Phillies first-baseman and now a Baseball Tonight analyst for ESPN.  I'm guessing he was being asked on why he isn't in better shape by a female reporter.  Serves her right for not remembering that the best baseball player of all time wasn't svelt or in shape.  He was huge.

There is something about baseball and fat guys.  It's almost as if players that are heavier are more apt to do well in the league.  Babe Ruth isn't by any means an athlete.  He's a fat man who could swing a huge bat and crush the ball into next week.  When you think about baseball players who are being developed now, they look thin.  And when you think about things that baseball players do: running, stealing, throwing, jumping, hustling - they don't really seem like things that fat guys should be, or would be doing better than other people.  But for some reason, the baseball Gods have allowed for overtly fat men to do well in this sport.

No other sport seems to allow for such a thing.  Basketball players need to constantly run.  The last good fat player was either Shaq or Charles Barkley, but they have been out of the league and they were great for throwing their weight around, which seems to no longer be effective in the NBA.  Hockey players that weigh more than 230 pounds are considered huge, and I've never been able to tell who has a gut in that league.  Football allows for fat men, but they have to be fast fat men, which is an anomaly.

Just look at the baseball players that were fat that have done well:

Cabrera and Fielder are both fat guys who have done wonders since landing in Detroit.

Probably the best big game pitcher for the Red Sox ever.

David Wells was known for warming up with a 12 pack of Diet Coke and then throwing perfect games.

Sabathia, who has lost weight since because he stopped eating boxes of cereal for breakfast, has dominated most of this career in the big leagues.

Bartolo Colon, who easily outweighs everyone in baseball, but still throws heat at his age.
I think we need a more flattering picture of Bartolo.  Let me look.

Much better.  You can really count the chins he has gained since joining the league.

And of course, everybody's favorite big man around Boston, David Ortiz.
After posting all of this, I'd love to see a mashup of Ortiz saying "This is our fuckin' city", but then dubbing over it saying "This is our fuckin' chili".  Make it happen Internet!

Anyways, thanks for reading.  Hope you enjoyed.

LiveBlog: Game 7 of the NBA Finals!

Here we go!  Game 7!  All my friends have given me all the shit in the world for liking basketball because they know that the NBA is fixed.  They also forget that the NBA is smart because you make more money with 7 games being played.  Enjoy your sweeps and coach plane rides NHL!

Here we go!

Jumpball......and of course there's a fucking whistle.

Ok, take 2.  Spurs win the Tip.

Each team now has one turnover.  Popovich is ready for his halftime analysis.

Thanks for showing up Pop!

"Super Nintendo" Mario Chalmers waiting for a foul call while catching the ball out of bounds reminded me of the kid's who didn't hustle in travel basketball because they

Two fouls on Manu.  Interesting.

Miami fans are so interesting to watch.  They all wear white, yet they all wear stupid accessories, like fedora's and sunglasses IN DOORS!  "Hey hun, will this cream colored fedora go good with the D&G sunglasses or my DKNY sunglasses?"  "I thought we weren't going to Dolphin's games anymore?"

Commercial breaks are awful.  That Lone Ranger movie will get a robust 8% on Rotten Tomatoes.  I guarantee it.  Johnny Depp is shit.  Armey Hammer better run fast because he's been in 2 movies that are shit if you count Lone Ranger.

Chris Bosh wins the 2013 picture taker of the year.

With 2 minutes remaining in the first quarter, both teams give a feeling that either team is going to reach 100 points.  Lebron left wide open, miss.  Birdman is contributing in his department of rebounding and scoring easy buckets.  Shane Battier is hitting his 3's.  The Spurs look a little rusty.  Kawhi Leonard CANNOT MISS ANYMORE FREE THROWS! (he just missed one).  Quarter ends with the Heat ahead by 2, 18-16.  Lebron exercising in his fake gym that shows a parking garage in a 30 foot window view is a great ad for Best Buy.  COMMERCIALS SUCK!

Tiago Splitter, Winner for Best Name in the NBA Finals, reminds me of the Russian guy from Eddie, who keeps saying "Ivan Make Basket".  Just a thought.

Dwayne Wade was just everywhere in the last 2 minutes.  Getting a foul, blocking a shot, rebounding and passing about 4 shots.  He's tough, but he'll need to stay healthy all game.

There are so many people in the arena wearing sunglasses indoors.  Is this a thing I don't know about?  Is everyone in Miami just a huge douchebag?

It is at this time that I should mention to everyone that I just learned that Kanye West's baby name is North.  North West.  As in the direction.  Maybe Kanye just saw the movie North and was really enthralled by it.

Wow.  The synopsis of North is that a kid travels around the world looking for SUITABLE PARENTS!!  ART IMITATES REAL LIFE!!!!!!

North is also on the Internet for Free!!!!

This is part 1.  I don't care about rights, it's on youtube.  Deal!

So back to basketball, both teams AREN'T scoring points.  It's drive to the hoop, miss, rebound, miss, rebound, loose ball, rebound, drive, miss, rebound, miss, and then whistle.  With 3 minutes left, it;s 37-32 coming back from a White House Down commercial starring Bruce Bowen.  Surprised he didn't take out Jamie Foxx's ankles in those rebounds.

The Spurs have regained some momentum.  They've made 12 straight FT's according to Mike Breen.  Wade has really started to take control of this game on the Heat side.  He's driving hard, going after rebounds, and making defensive contact.  With halftime arriving, it's 48-46 Heat.

The Internet is going insane over a baby named North.  I made a joke about baby cologne named North by  North West.  Speaking of which, it's such a good movie.  I guarantee Kanye or Kim hasn't seen it.

Probably my favorite Hitchcock movie.  Every scene is amazing, plus it has that awesome shot of Mount Rushmore.

I just went to Yahoo Sports homepage and this is what I see.

Bosh is going to kill Danny Green.  It's only a matter of time.

Okay, second half is back.

Mike Breen just told me about Kawhi Leonard's huge hands with an anecdote about huge huge huge huge huge gloves for something.  This is basketball.  No gloves allowed Breen.

Through several transitions, Miami is up 2 with a score of 54-52.  Danny Green made a stupid no-look pass that ended up being stolen by Mike Miller, passed to Lebron, and hurled to Wade for a fast break dunk.  The crowd in Miami got excited as usual for dunks.

WNBA live access commercials make me laugh.  There is no way that someone pays for that.  Sorry females, there isn't just enough interest.

I would really love to hear someone Mic-up Chris Bosh and Tim Duncan.  It would mostly be for Chris Bosh, because I don't think Tim Duncan ever speaks.

Dwayne Wade got mad at Chris Bosh and made a really mean face.

Timeout Spurs.

After timeout, Danny Green hits a three.  Still more than Ray-Ray.

San Antonio has 8 turnovers at this point of the game, under 5 minutes to go.

Lebron James can also make three's just like Danny Green.  Boris Diaw trying to get the ball into the post looks funny.  Not ha-ha funny, but funny in a "I'm worried about his health" funny.

Lebron is going to start taking over this game, while the Spurs are going to use the power of teamwork and excellence.

I'd hate to say it, but I don't know if Lebron is going to lose with 26 points in the 3rd quarter.  He's going super-saiyan right now.  If you don't know what that is, it's because you never watched Dragon Ball Z after school when you were in middle school.  I did.

Lebron James has a ton of points right now.  So does Dwayne Wade.  However, Chris Bosh, Ray Allen, and Mike Miller are 0-11.  The Spurs are spreading the floor and getting everyone some points.  The Heat are playing 5 on 2.

At the end of the 3rd Quarter, the score is now 72-71 Heat after a Chalmers' buzzer beater three.  One quarter left and it looks really tight.  Can't wait for this ending.

The beginning of the end it is.  4th Quarter.

Lebron drives, dishes to Battier for three, and he's now 5 for 5.

Duncan sat to start the 4th and just jumped up to check in.

This game is getting TIGHT!!!!

Well this is the part of the game where we can now start to see Spurs defensive fouls as well as Offensive fouls on Spurs players.  Anderson went to the line.  Lebron is now that the line.  I know Steve Javie said earlier that these refs are the best in the league, but I'd expect him to say that about anyone.

Hahahahaha.  Chris Anderson just got a lane violation.  What is this 5th grade BYB?  Nice job.

Duncan just scored on a "shass" from Parker.  He took about 4 Heat players with him too.

The Heat's defense is wait for someone to drive and then collapse on them.  I don't know if it will work in the time they have left because they could just dump it off and score easy buckets to Duncan.

So much has happened.  Manu made 3 mistakes than drained a huge three.  Bosh made a foul and Duncan scored the And-1 to make it a game.  This is so much excitement.  The Spurs are keeping this game tight and I love that this is ending the way it is.

Minute and half left.  2 point game.

Spurs had a chance to score!  And they didn't!!!!

Battier could have scored a three, didn't.  Lebron didn't score.  Spurs are still within 2.

Heat are now up by 4 thanks to Lebron.  I don't like him.  I mean, I understand he's the best player in the NBA, but he's very hateable.

Pop's coaching coming out the timeout is going to sound like a Disney movie "stick together".

I was wrong on that one^

Parker was sitting on the bench.  3 point shooters and Duncan.  He didn't need a three, but instead he got a Manu turnover, which puts him back to 4 mistakes.  Dribbling under the basket and then throwing it over 2 guys named Lebron James and Chris Bosh.  Spurs turnover.  It's been nothing but turnovers.  Pop said it in Game 3.

Heat sealed the game with another shot or two.  I was busy getting sad.  Pop sat Parker.  They lost.  Can't say that it would've been different, but I'm guessing he wanted a three shooter out there.

To end it well, David Stern said 2002013 NBA Champeens.

That's it for 2013 Basketball.

NBA Fans That Make Me Enjoy Watching Basketball...

I've been recently looking around my local area (Quincy, MA) for some Boston Celtics/Basketball fans.  I've noticed that people around this area aren't really into sports as a whole, they usually gravitate towards a team within a sport.  With that said, I think the best basketball fans are online or at a game.  Usually the funniest fans are tweeting about a game on Twitter, or are visible court-side.  So let's look for some notable NBA fans, who just love the game for what it is and are entertaining because of it.

Jack Nicholson - The most famous of all Laker fans.  Usually he can be seen jawing it out on the sidelines with NBA elites just to throw them off their game.  He also is great to see jumping up and yelling at terrible officiating calls.

Chelsea Peretti - Might be one of the funniest female comedians on Twitter.  She sometimes hangs out with Roy Hibbert at local Indiana bars.  She also tweets and vines a lot of funny things about basketball and wolves and other things. She's hilarious and that's all you have to know.

Gino - Probably the best thing about going to a Celtics game, other than watching them play, is the part of the night where Gino shows up on the JumboTron.  It originally started from a Soul Train or Dance Off video the Garden would play to get the crowd going, but it's turned into a state of mind.

Clipper Darrell - Apparently LOB city, aka The Los Angeles Clippers, have one of the best devoted fans of any NBA franchise, and according to the video below, they don't really want him around anymore.  It's one of the saddest stories in the NBA and the fact that The Clippers don't want him using that moniker because he's making money off of it is a travesty.  Long live Clipper Darrell.

MC Hammer - Golden State aka Oakland's finest celebrity-broke rapper is one of the biggest fans for his hometown Warriors.  He, along with the help of the talent on the Warriors, have started a revolution in the Warriors fan base to get Oakland excited to get that team into contention.

Grandma Lana - She is a hidden delight among Warriors fans.  She is predominantly known for calling into the Basketball Jones podcast and being great at the analysis of the game.  She isn't really on the internet, but she's a notable fan that reminds us that we can be any age and love this sport.

Jason Sudekis - Usually seen at Orlando games, he's a devoted fan.  When it's either with Rob Riggle or Will Ferrell, he's a fun celebrity to see at a basketball court.  Especially since he's now engaged to one of the

Will Ferrell - After doing the starting lineups for the Chicago Bulls and New Orleans Hornets and then working as a Red Coat for the Lakers game while escorting Shaquille O'Neal out of a game.  It's just awesome to see someone bring more and more comedy into the NBA game.  Classic.

Jason Bateman - I hear he loves the Kiss Cam when he goes to NBA games.  Even with Dustin Hoffman.

This Week in NBA Fashion: Roy Hibbert

Roy Hibbert put some great numbers(24 points and 12 rebounds) in Game 3 of the Pacers-Knicks series.  Then he decided to push the NBA podium fashion limits and include a monocle into the mix.  A MONOCLE!  Not only does that up the ante for the rest of the league, but this puts Hibbert in the upper echelon of NBA Fashion Kings.  No one saw this NBA Fashion contest happening.  They show up to the game wearing hip colors, glasses, nice kicks, usually with a pair of Dre Beats.

Pocket squares, mustard pants, fresh kicks with metallic straps, and a gold watch turn some heads for Mike Conley.
Russell Westbrook is the king of fake frames, exotic patterned shirts, awesome pants, and very different shoes.

Then things like this happen.  Players get outfits that are absolutely outrageous and have nothing to do with anything regarding basketball or fashion.  I'm waiting for someone to get the HazMat suit or show up in something like....

The Road Warrior.

JaVale McGee is the NBA Clown of the Year

In case you haven’t seen a lick of NBA action this season, or haven’t found a reason to, here’s one: JaVale McGee.  He is having the funniest season for an NBA player and might be the biggest clown in sports.  He is a great player to play along with John Wall on the Washington Wizards, but I would only pick him on my team in I needed someone to make the other players laugh hysterically.  Here are some videos of why JaVale McGee is absolutely hilarious to watch:

He gets back on defense faster than anyone else!  That takes dedication!  This seems like something that would only happen in a Youth Basketball League while parents would chuckle and say to one another “That’s my boy!”.  Now if you were making millions of dollars doing that, that’s a different story.

He goes above and beyond for making a dunk for the fans!  He knows he is a star and wants to make fans love him.  What better way than to attempt a Jordan-esque dunk in a game, not once, but TWICE!  Pure dedication to giving the fans a good time!

Back to defense!  No matter if the ball is about to go in, JaVale McGee will swat that thing to the 10th row back like an Olympic Volleyball player.  The look on the girls face when the ball is going back to the court says it all.  No one is safe from JaVale’s blocks.  Even the people sitting far away on purpose.

Who wouldn’t want to be around a guy who planks on a moving sidewalk at the Hong Kong airport?  This man might be on the list for best comedian of the year.  Forget Zach Galifianakis, Louis CK, and whoever else you might think is funny, JaVale McGee is in the running!

Even the Washington Wizards administrators on are board with JaVale McGee being the center of comedic attention.  I can’t think of anything that would escalate McGee’s presence in the NBA.  He would have to go campaigning for Obama.  Or even better: Mitt Romney!  I can’t even describe what future this man has in store for himself.

Most important part of a party is…

When I think about college and all the good times I had with friends at their off-campus houses and wild raging parties at some other university, there would always be this moment when you could tell this party is either going all night or is going to end really quickly and end badly.  I remember times when people would leave about 20 minutes too late and things would get real salty.  Missing one cab or leaving behind one other person would end up with someone taking a long walk in the cold and passing out somewhere unwanted, like a bush or the side of the road.

Partying too long can also kill the mood when everyone is just about to pass out and someone decides to rage on like it’s 8 hours earlier than it really is.  Nothing makes a situation more awkward like one dude or chick raging to whatever is playing on the iPod while there is either no one around them or everyone is around them, but they are passed out.  It’s never both of those, it’s usually just one of those kinds of situations.  There is no timetable for when things could go from high speed fun to downshifting and passing out while everyone is feeling like death.

In the last year, I think there have been at least 5 different examples of someone staying too long at one position in their life where everything went badly for them.  You always hear about people who work at a job for 35 years only to be laid off within the week of them telling you that.  35 years.  Didn’t think at any point that you overstayed your welcome?  Not one point where you thought, ‘hey, I think this is the high point of my career, I should plan my exit strategy so I don’t end up like <insert culturally acceptable leader who overstayed his welcome and ruined his legacy>.  I don’t want to end up like that guy.  He sucked”.  People who are just graduating college and entering the workforce will not only face the irritation of someone overstaying their welcome but it will echo in their future as well.  If a college grad doesn’t have a job within a certain amount of time after their graduation, they are doomed to lose thousands in income and expected thousands in retirement money.

Billy Hunter and David Stern overstayed their welcome and almost ruined an entire season of the NBA because they loved listening to their own ideas.  Stern’s even ruining this Chris Paul trade event that was agreed upon, but it seems that owners don’t even know their own rules that they set in place.  Joe Paterno should have left college football coaching and since this Sandusky issue blew up over the media, Paterno as well as Penn State are doomed for as long as we know.  Penn State has their Library named after Paterno.  The city that the college plays, in becomes the largest city population wise in the state of Pennsylvania during their football games.  Peachy Paterno at the Penn State Creamery, from what I believe is now just called “Peach” and the Sandusky Blitz is gone forever.  Terry Francona and Theo Epstein got run out of town because Boston needed a scapegoat and there was no logical reason that a team that great could lose 1/3 of its games in the final month of the season and still make the playoffs.  Theo should have left right after he won the 2nd World Series.  I’m sure everyone in Boston would’ve understood if he said he was moving onto bigger and better things.

Brett Favre?  Couldn’t say goodbye.  Didn’t know when to hang ‘em up.  John Elway?  Knew exactly when to leave.  This rule echoes in sports.  Legacies can be ruined.  Your signed baseball cards can be turned worthless with one bad piece of news.  Staying around for that last year to try to win a championship, but end up tanking down the stretch?  Staying those extra 3 hours at the strip club seem worthwhile for a professional footballer?  Doesn’t anyone know that nothing good ever happens at 3am?(unless you’re getting lucky I suppose)

Leaving the party(in life) is just one of those things that you have to time just perfectly.  Leaving at the peak might not be the best course of action, but usually the best time to leave is when at least two or more people can admit that the current situation has peaked and that nothing can really top this.  I’ve experienced this in Vegas.

Speaking of which, that story’s for another time.  Meaning: I know when to end this blog post.

Why Rondo for Paul doesn’t make sense

So the Boston sports media thinks that Rajon Rondo will get traded to the New Orleans Hornets for Chris Paul.  I laughed at this and then realized, "shit, someone is actually serious".  That someone is probably former Celtic GM genius turned mad man with trading power Danny Ainge.  I don’t think he is all there upstairs anymore.  He traded our starting center for 6th/7th man, during a playoff run and then tried to defend it.  Someone should have told him there are 5 good centers in the league and we had one.  But, before I rant on that, here are some videos of why we shouldn't trade Rondo for Paul.

Video #1:

Rondo is as tough as they come.  Coming back into the game after something crazy like this happens?  Who does this?  Plus I think people underestimated Dwayne Wade for physically taking Boston out of the game at this point by losing their passer.  Rondo gets injured and yet is back before the end of the game.

#2:   Chris Paul is very prone to injury.  This is just a head collision, but let's let the next picture signify what our future "running point guard” will be wearing along with a uniform.

That my friends is a full on knee brace.  Meaning he has had knee surgery.  Meaning he isn't nearly as fast or is going to be able to keep up with players that will be guarding him.  Point guards need to have perfect running ability and not knee injuries of any kind.

#3.  Didn’t think there would be something like this one Youtube, but then again, what isn’t out there.

Not so sure that Chris Paul would be a psychological fit for the Big 3.  This trade wouldn’t make anyone better.

#4:  I don't think I need to say anything more that what this next video says.  Pure hustle.  You can't show hustle on a statistic, you can only see it.

Some skeptics think Rondo is only good around players that are Hall of Famers.  If that is the case than Rondo should be considered one of the players that would be a building block for players that are elite.  Pierce, Allen and mainly Garnett were the rocks that the Celtics built their championship hopes on.  They made it as far as they could, winning a championship one year and losing in the finals another and for some reason trading their starting center for a 6th man within the last year, wiping away all hopes for a possible return to the Finals and leaving a bad taste in every Celtics fan’s mouth.

If Danny Ainge plans to return to the Finals, he needs to find the right building blocks to rebuild his team.  Having a point guard that primarily scores wouldn’t be the same as a point guard who primarily passes.  It’s more important for a team to have the guys that don’t make a ton of mistakes than the guys that are going to put up to high standards.  If the Celtics were to keep Rondo, we’d need to have find the replacements for Garnett, Pierce, and Allen.  If we trade Rondo, I’d at least want someone that moves the ball just as well as Rondo did.  Paul isn’t that guy.  The Celtics can’t afford another player whose going to want a max deal, seeing that we have a hometown bargain (Pierce) and a max deal (Garnett).  I think the Celtics needs are in the Center position and in the area of bench players.  Particularly bench players who aren’t overweight and who can make it seem like there wasn’t a substitution in the first place.  More developments will come from this later, but I still think Rajon Rondo is a cheap point guard who moves the ball and is the emotional center of the team right now.
